Matthew is the founder of Courtroom Calvary and a relentless advocate for his clients. Known by many for his aggressive courtroom presence and tenacity, Matthew brings energy and precision to every case he handles.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, Matthew has dedicated his career to defending the rights of Tennesseans facing criminal charges, with a particular focus on traffic offenses, DUI cases, and other criminal matters that can have lasting impacts on everyday life. His reputation is built on thorough preparation, bold advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to protecting his clients’ futures.

Matthew is a member of the Order of Barristers, serves as a member of the Agricultural Foundation for Tennessee Tech University, and is a member of the board of directors for TennGreen serving as East Tennessee Vice-President. Matthew is an award-winning national debater and the 2025 recipient of the Tennessee Tech Alumni Association's Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.
Matthew is a proud native born Tennessean and the third generation to live on his family’s farm. His roots trace back to his ancestor and the first governor of the state of Tennessee, John Sevier.
He and his lovely wife Lauren are the proud parents of Adam Claude McClanahan, and the family enjoys exploring “the waterfall capital of the U.S.”
